UpdatePanel control tutorials

  • The UpdatePanel control supports partial-page updates by tying together specific server-side controls and events that cause them to render.The UpdatePanel control causes only selected parts of the page to be refreshed instead of the whole page (as happens during a typical HTTP postback).

  • The Following table shows the properties of the UpdatePanel control.

Specifies the CSS attributes collection of the  UpdatePanel  control.

ChildrenAsTriggers

This property sets a value that indicates whether postbacks from immediate child controls of an UpdatePanel control update the panel's content.

ContentTemplate

This property defines the content of the UpdatePanel control.

ContentTemplateContainer

Retrieves a control object to which you can programmatically add child controls.

Controls

Retrieves the ControlCollection object that contains the child controls

IsInPartialRendering

This property returns a value that indicates whether the UpdatePanel control is being updated as a result of an asynchronous postback.

RenderMode

This property specifies a value that indicates whether an UpdatePanel control's content is enclosed in an HTML <div> or <span> element.

RequireUpdates

This property returns a value that indicates whether the content of the UpdatePanel control will be updated.

Triggers

This property returns an UpdatePanelTriggerCollection object that contains AsyncPostBackTrigger and PostBackTrigger objects that were registered declaratively for the UpdatePanel control.

UpdateMode

Specify a value that indicates when an update panel controlís content is updated.

Methods

Description

CreateContentTemplate

This method creates a Control object that acts as a container for child controls that define the UpdatePanel control's content.

CreateControlCollection

This method returns the collection of all controls that are contained in the UpdatePanel control.

Initialize

Initializes the UpdatePanel control trigger collection if partial-page rendering is enabled

OnLoad

Raises the Load event for the UpdatePanel control and invokes the Initialize method when partial-page rendering is not enabled.

Update

This method specifies an update of the content of an UpdatePanel control.

 

NOTE:

  • The following ASP.NET controls are not compatible with partial-page updates, and are therefore not designed to work inside an UpdatePanel control:

    1. TreeView

    2. Menu

    3. FileUpload

    4. Login, Password, Change Password

    5. GridView

    6. DetailsView
