if..else Statement in C tutorials

  • If..else checks the condition, and if result returns true, it execute statements for true block, if result turn out to be false, then it will execute statements given after else block.

If ( Conditions )

Statements if condition is true;

Statements if condition is false;

IF else statement in C

C Program to Enter a number a print remark whether no is Positive no, or Negative no or Zero using if…else statements

Sam Sir

// Program name test022.c

// program to check no and print +ve,-ve or zero remark using If..Else

# include <stdio.h>

void main()

int no;

printf("Enter any no ");

if (no>0)

printf("%d is positive no",no);

if (no<0)

printf("%d is negative no",no);

printf("Entered no is zero");

Enter any no : 10

10 is positive no.

Enter any no : -7

-7 is negative no

Enter any no : 0

Entered no is zero

  • In this program you will declare variable no as integer. Then it will display message to enter no and as per entered no.

  • If you observe in this program will check only 2 conditions.

  • First condition will check, if no is greater than 0, if true it will print positive message.

  • If no is not positive, it will go to else block, here we will check second condition for negative, if no is less than 0, if true it will print negative message, now there is no need to check third condition.

  • Why? If no is not positive, if not negative, then it has to be zero. So no need for third condition. We can straight way say in else block no is Zero message.

  • Finally, we close two brace bracket blocks. First we close for else block, second brace bracket is for main block.
