printf( “format string”) Tutorials;

  • This function is used to print the message written within quotes on the screen.

  • The format string contains what are called as format specifiers, which control the format of the values to be printed.

  • It is known as the insertion operator.

  • Each format specifiers has to be preceded with a % symbol.

  • Any number of format specifies can, be given, with an equal number of variables corresponding to format specifiers.

  • There are many format specifiers in C. Following are some of common one.

  • When you run above program, int a,b statement will declare two variable a and b.

  • Next statement a=50, will assign value 50 to variable a.

  • Next statement b=60, will assign value 60 to variable b.

  • Next statement int c=70, will declare and assign variable at same time. It will declare c and assign 70 to it.

  • In first printf statement, it will first display a =, then in %d, it will print value of variable a, then it will display b = and in place of %d it will print value of b variable, last part of \n will transfer cursor to new line.

  • In second printf statement, it will display c = and then in place of %d, it will show value of variable c.
