Starting Turbo C++ Tutorials

  • To start Turbo C++ Click Start Button – Select All Program – Select Turbo C++ 4.5 menu option and finally select Turbo C++ option.

  • Alternatly to start Turbo C++ move to the directory in which we plan to do execute C program. Suppose Turbo C is installed in C drive then apply the following command.

  • C:\TCWIN45\BIN\TCW.exe

  • This will display IDE screen, generally blue screen, with the menu bar on top and the status line on the bottom.

  • Turbo C++ is structured around two windows

  • These two windows are sections of the screen which are used for different tasks.

  • One of the windows is the Edit window with blue in color and the other is the Message Window.

 

Starting Turbo C++ with graphics mode

  • To start Turbo C++ 4.5 from graphics window mode:

  1. First Click on Start.

  2. Then All Programs

  3. Then click on Turbo C++ 4.5

  4. Then click on Turbo C++ as below picture:

Open New Program

  • Once you start Turbo C++ or any other compiler, Click to File menu and Select New option.

  • This will open new windows, where you can type new C or C++ Program.

Saving Program

  • In New Turbo C++ 4.5, you can save the program by clicking on FILE then click on SAVE or by pressing Ctrl+k+s keys.

  • If you are saving the file for first time Turbo C++ 4.5 will prompt you to type name for your file.

  • C program have file extension .C or .c for example <ProgramName>.C or <ProgramName>.c

  • Similarly, if you want to save file for C++, then file extension should be cpp.

Compiling, Running the program and Opening the exiting file

  • To compile the source file, click on Project placed in menu bar then click on Compile or you can compile by pressing Alt+F9 key.

  • If there is any error it will display compile status dialog box status message as there are errors and number or errors then if you click ok then it will show an error message.

  • Suppose if you miss the semicolon at the end of statement then it will show an error message as ‘Error filename.c: Statement missing; in function main().

  • If there is no error it will show status as success.

  • To run the program click on Debug placed in menu bar then click on Run or you can run a program by pressing Ctrl+F9 key after running the program it will show an output window containing the output of the program.

  • To open a Program click on File then click on open it will open a Open a File dialog box in open a file dialog box select the file you want to open and then click on OK button, if the file is in other dirctory or Drive then select the drive from Driver Section.

  • Then Select a Directories from Directories section, then select a program file from File Name section and then click on OK button it will open a program in new window editor.
