Physical Layer 1 tutorials
Data received from Data Link Layer 2 "Frames" is formatted into "Bits" to be transmitted out from the Physical Layer 1.
-
Transmit data on the wire.
-
Moves bits between devices, specify voltage, wire speed and pin-out of cable.
-
This layer is responsible for actual physical connection between devices.
-
It may use Coaxial, CAT, Fiber Optic cable or wireless for communication.
-
Other attributes of Layer 1 include.
-
Specification of voltage, wire speed, and pin-out cables
-
Capability to receive and transmit a data signal
-
Identification of the interface that is set up between the DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) and the DCE (Data Communication Equipment).
