Double Dimensional arrays in C++ tutorials

  • Double dimensional arrays are arrays with more than one indices or dimensions.

  • It is also known as two dimensional array and is used for storing Matrix sort of elements.

  • First set of [ ] is used for Rows and Second set of [ ] is used for Columns.

 

Syntax:

datatype arrayname [rows] [columns]

 

For Examples

int no[4][3];

double amt[10],[5];

 

  • In above example int no[4][3]; is a integer data type two-dimensional array with 4 rows and 3 columns.

  • In second example float amt [10][5]; is float data type two-dimensional array with 10 rows and 5 columns.

 

Initializing the multidimensional array

int no[4] [3]={1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12};

 

Or

 

int no [4] [3]={

{1,2,3},

{4,5,6},

{7,8,9},

{10,11,12}

};
