CSS Display Property tutorials

  • The display property defines how a certain HTML element should be displayed

  • CSS1 only defines inline, block, list-item, and none.

Description

Inline

This is default. The element is displayed as an inline-level element (like span)

Block

A block element is an element that takes up the full width available, and has a line break before and after it.

List-item

The element is displayed as a list-item, which means that it has a bullet in front of it.

None

The element will not be displayed at all.

Box

The element is displayed as block-level container box.

Flex

The element is displayed as block-level flex container box.

Inline-flex

The element is displayed as inline-level flex container box.

Inline-block

The element is displayed as inline element on the same line as adjacent content.

Inline-table

The element is displayed as inline-level table.

Table

The element is displayed as a table.

Table-caption

The element is displayed as a table caption.

Table-cell

The element is displayed as a table cell.

Table-column

The element is displayed as a table column.

Table-row

The element is displayed as table row
