CSS font-variant : normal / small-caps tutorials

  • By default font-variant is set to normal. It will display font in normal style.

  • When font-variant is set to small-caps the lower case letters look similar to the uppercase letter, however it will be in smaller size and slightly different proportion.

  • When you use small-caps, it convert lowercase letter to uppercase, but in different proportion.

 

Font-variant : value

Description

Normal

The text is shown normal style. By default font variant is normal.

Small-caps

When font-variant is set to small-caps the lower case letters look similar to the uppercase letter, however it will be in smaller size and slightly different proportion.

Note

The value "inherit" is not supported in IE7 and earlier versions. IE8 requires a <!DOCTYPE> declaration. IE9 supports "inherit" value.
