USING WINDOWS UPDATE

  • Windows Update is available through Microsoft Web site and is used to provide the most current files for the Windows Operating System. Update include Security Fixes, Critical Update, Updated Help Files and Updated Drivers.

To use Windows Update do as follows

• Connect to Internet

• Click START  HELP AND SUPPORT

• In Support Task, choose “Windows Update Option”

• Windows Welcome screen will appear, click “SCAN FOR UPDATE”

 

USING WINDOWS AUTOMATIC UPDATE

  • Windows Automatic Update, recognize when you have Internet connection and will automatically. It search from Microsoft Web site and is used to provide the most current files for the Windows Operating System. Update include Security Fixes, Critical Update, Updated Help Files and Updated Drivers.

  • Update are Downloaded using “BITS” Background Intelligent Transfer Services. BITS is a bandwidth throttling technology that allow download of update files using only idle bandwidth, thus other internet traffic is not affected.

 

To use Windows AUTOMATIC Update do as follows

• Click START -> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -> SERVICES

• Select “AUTOMATIC UPDATE service” -> Startup Type as “AUTOMATIC” -> START

• Click START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM or

Right click on “MY COMPUTER” and Choose “PROPERTY”

• Select “Automatic Update Tab page”

• Choose -> Keep my computer Up to date.

• You can set the setting to

¡ NOTIFY ME BEFORE DOWNLOAD

¡ DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY

¤ AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD UPDATE AT SCHEDULE TIME.
