Hardware Profile tutorials

  • It is extremely useful when a single computer (lets say LAPTOP) has multiple hardware configuration. You want to enable some hardware device and disable for OFFICE /or/ HOME, DOCKED /or/ UNDLOCKED etc.

  • MY COMPUTER Right Click Properties Hardware Profile

  • Click on Copy Profile, It will copy current Hardware profile to another

  • You can change name of profile such as INSIDE OFFICE / OUTSIDE OFFICE or

  • DOCKED / UNDOCKED etc

  • To save Battery power you may start PC in particular profile, go to DEVICE MANAGER Disable hardware that are not in use such as PCMCIA card, Ethernet LAN card etc.

Configuring Hardware DEVICE

  • In My Computer Properties Device Manger you can do following things

  • GENERAL PANEL:- it gives device type, manufacturer name, You can ENABLE or DISABLE any hardware from here.

  • DRIVER PANEL :- it gives information regarding Driver Provider, Date, Version and Digital Signature if any. It gives 4 buttons

  • RESOURCES PANEL :- It gives resources used by the device and list whether there are any conflicts or not. If device conflict with other device then you can manually change device resources.
