TRUST tutorials

  • This trust is defined by trust protocols.

  • Trust Protocol by default for Windows 2000 & 2003 is “KERBORS Version 5”

  • For previous version of windows it was “NT LAN MANAGER” or “NTLM” protocol

  • Trust can be created Automatically (implicit Trust) or manually (explicit Trust).

  • Not all trust could be two way trust. It could be one way depends upon organization need.

SITE

  • An Active Directory site is one or more well connected, highly reliable and fast TCP/IP subnets.

  • Sites are connected to each other via site links. Site links is physical connection and communication between two sites that allows replication to happen.

  • Site could be within domain, or multiple domains could be within one site.

  • Site is represented by oval i.e.

  • Replication between two sites are can be scheduled according to the what is called site link cost. Site link cost is nothing but value which we assign to link that is used to regulate replication according to the speed of link.

  • Replication is nothing but coping of database from one domain to another domain.

  • For site link costs, higher cost means slower links. And site link will use link which have lower site cost.
