  • Security types will specify type of authentication and encryption used to connect Wireless network.

  • No Authentication (Open). You will choose this option when you want to connect to public wireless network that we find at Airport, Library, Coffee shop etc.

  • Point to note

  • When you use wireless Network, Windows 7 includes a symbol that specifies signal strength. Five bars indicates Strong signal, less bar indicate weak Wireless signal.

  • Following table shows common problems and solutions for low signal.

 

Problem Slow Signal strength.

  • Solution1 Could be due to Proximity.

  • Try to get closer to Wireless Access Point.

  • Try to consider installing an external antenna.

  • Solution2 Could be due to Physical Obstructions

  • Check for physical objects such as Metal Cabinet or Wall

  • Try to reposition WAP and remove Metal cabinet or physical obstructions between WAP and Client

 

Problem Interference from other signals

  • Solution1 Devices such as Cordless Phone, Bluetooth, Microwave oven may causes interference. Either turn them off during WAP working or move them farther away.

  • Solution2 Try changing WAP setting to use different wireless channel or set the channel to select automatically.
